Part 1: Enable Developer Options
- From the home screen, navigate to Settings (gear icon).
- Select System, then About.
- Scroll down to Android TV OS build (or "Build Number") and press the select button on your remote seven times in quick succession.
- A message will pop up saying "You are now a developer".
Part 2: Allow Apps from Unknown Sources
- Go back to the Settings menu.
- Navigate to Apps.
- Scroll down and select Security & restrictions.
- Select Unknown sources.
- Enable this permission for the application you plan to use for sideloading (e.g., Downloader or CX File Explorer). You must grant permission on an app-by-app basis.
Part 3: Sideload the APKYou can sideload apps using the Downloader app .
Method A: Using the Downloader App (Recommended)This method allows you to download APKs directly from the internet without a computer.
- Go to the Google Play Store on your onn box and search for the Downloader app. Install it.
- Open the Downloader app and select the URL box.
- Enter the exact URL of the APK file you want to download. Many users rely on reputable sites like the one mentioned in the Reddit post to find necessary APKs.
- The app will download the file. Once complete, it will prompt you to install it.
- Select Install and, after installation is finished, select Done.
